Keynote Speaker:  Donald L. Hilton, Jr., MD, FAANS, FACS


Donald L Hilton, Jr., MD, FAANS, FACS is a clinical

associate professor in the Department of Neurosurgery

at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center and serves as director of neurosurgical training for the residency program at the Methodist Hospital rotation. In 2011 he published a peer-reviewed article which investigated the role of natural instinctive craving in addiction (co-author) in the journal of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.  In 2013 he published a peer-reviewed article “Pornography Addiction: A Supranormal Stimulus Considered in the Context of Neuroplasticity” in the Socioaffective Neuroscience and Psychology journal. He was a keynote speaker at this year's International Institute of Trauma and  Addiction Professionals (IITAP) annual conference and has been a vital part of the ongoing research related  to the brain and sex addiction



Topic:  The Neurobiology of Sex Addiction


In recent years new and emerging science on the understanding of how the brain  learns has been changing our perspectives on addiction. Dr. Donald Hilton,  M.D.  will be speaking on the neurobiology of the brain as it relates to addictive and compulsive behaviors, both process and chemical. He will also discuss brain plasticity and how the brain can heal through treatment and recovery interventions.
